Final app in the App Store

About

A man in a wheat fieldA man in a wheat field

A manufacturer of agricultural machinery turned to us for a mobile app. Since the machines are often sold in the field with no Internet connection, the client needed an app that could function offline.

The client already had a corporate CRM system, but it worked only on desktop computers. Sales managers had to make notes during the deals and then manually transfer the information to the desktop CRM system when they returned to the office later. It was a complicated and time-consuming process.

Tasks

We had to design and build the frontend for a mobile app with offline access so that managers could enter deal data right in the field without access to the Internet.

01

Create a simple and minimalist design that would be clear to employees of all ages

02

Keep the logic and names the employees were familiar with

03

Make the frontend and connect it to the client’s backend

04

Configure everything so that notes would be automatically synchronized with the database after reconnecting to the Internet

How the app works

01

Calendar

If a manager wants to add a new task, they tap and create a new interaction.

When users open the app, they see the calendar with the scheduled interactions. These can be calls, emails, or meetings.

When a new deal is made, a manager goes to the «Interests» tab and creates a deal by tapping the «Add interest» button

03

There, they enter the details about the partner and deal type.

04

interest

In the «Interests» tab, a manager can view the progress of the ongoing deals and filter them by specific criteria and dates.

05

Partners

In the «Partners» tab, a manager can view the entire list of partners — from individuals to  dealers.

If you need to develop a CRM system, we can make it turnkey.

We will study your task, clarify the goals, make the design, and develop the software.

Typeface and colors

We used the company’s colors, but they turned out to be too dull for a mobile app. We made them brighter and more contrasting to help users recognize the UI under the shining sun.

Noto Sans

This typeface is optimized for a mobile UI and can adapt to different screen sizes. It has rounded forms and moderate contrast making the text easy to perceive and read in any condition.
‍
Also, Noto Sans has an open license, which allowed us to save the client’s budget.

Design solutions

01

We got rid of extra features

The desktop version of the CRM has a large set of features, and many of them weren’t necessary during managers’ business trips. In the end, we decided to keep 3 main sections

Calendar
Interests
Partners
We changed the «Interests» section
The design of the desktop version was not suitable for the mobile app, so we decided to rebuild this section from scratch for convenience.

Дизайн десктопной версии не подходил
для мобильной версии, поэтому для удобства мы решили переделать этот раздел с нуля.
The desktop version contains a lot of text, buttons, and fields to fill in. So much information on a mobile screen would only confuse the user.
This is an ”Interest” page in the mobile version. The information is divided into blocks to help a manager quickly find the required data.

We added a progress bar to help managers understand how much information they need to complete when making a deal.

We made the «Interests» section a Kanban board and added color coding, which makes it easier for managers to track deal stages.

We kept the principles of the calendar

Managers are used to tracking their workload over a month, week, and day, so we kept this feature.

If a user views the information for a month, the daily workload will be displayed in different colors and numbers of dots ranging from 1 to 3. To indicate statuses, we used traditional colors: green, yellow, and red.

We saved the client’s budget in the «Partners» section

Both vendors and customers can be partners. They can be different as well: legal entities and individuals, or dealers and lessors from various industries and regions.
‍
When adding a new partner, a user has to fill in a lot of additional information. This resulted in the branching of the flow and increased development time.

Offline mode principles

The databases on the server and smartphones must be identical and constantly synchronized. That’s why we created a mechanism that sends data to the server after reconnection.
Internet connection disappears

A manager uses the app
For example, they create a new partner
All the changes are saved in the local database and queued to be sent to the server
03
04
The smartphone connects to the Internet
The changes are transferred to the server in the same order, and then they synchronize the databases
05
The application was developed on the React Native framework. It allows saving up to 30-35% of the budget and developing the application simultaneously for two operating systems - iOS and Android.
We managed to develop the app 2 weeks before the due date. The design took 2 months, and the development — 2.5 months. The app is already available in the App Store. For Android smartphones, it is distributed as an APK.
